According to Yell’s research, consumers spend 54% less per month on websites that have not been updated frequently compared to websites that have.

Importantly, 42% of customers stated that a website with current information would likely increase their likelihood of making a purchase or booking a service with that company.

According to the study, SMEs’ fears of breaking a website feature and a lack of expertise were the most common reasons they did not update or modify their website.

Design is important

In addition to keeping websites current, customers are also more interested in well-designed websites. Fifty percent of respondents said they would be less likely to give a website their business if it was poorly designed, and four in ten said they would not use that business again.

Businesses and professional service firms must have an online presence that impresses potential customers in terms of design and current, valuable content in today’s competitive online marketplace.
